Lt. Dan Choi, one Good and Honorable Hero!

Now those news are stunning, Lieutenant Dan Choi and Capitan Jim Pietrangelo got arrested today for chaining themselves to the White House's fence in protest for the shameful American Law called by Don't Ask, Don't Tell which bans Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual members of the military to reveal their sexual orientation.

However, the best part of this is that Dan Choi showed us today that LGBT may do more than simply donating money to HRC and Gay Inc. He really represents what social change means and I admire him a lot for what he is doing.

And now... my beautiful and charismatic Rachel Maddow will explain a little bit of what happened.

Lady GaGa + Beyonce = Total Awesomeness!!

Hello eveyone! I'm not a big fan of Pop Divas, but I feel that Lady GaGa just got me here... I must say that she started capturing my attention when she yelled at President Barack Obama because of his ineptitude on LGBT Rights, but the more I know her, the more I Love her. I would like you to watch her new release with the beautiful and as well highly talented Beyoncé.

Because of this video, the song sticked permanently to my head and the worse part is that I'm loving it! I love the outfits, the art, the makeups, the characters, the world and the crazy story line... Oh, and let's not forget Tarantino's idea of using the Pussy Waggon. I can't wait to dance that song in the clubs.

Overall the thing that I like the most about Lady GaGa is her advocacy got LGBT rights, I wish other celebrities and politicians would be like her. I wish Lady GaGa would sing with Christina Aguilera, she is another Pop Queen I love and also a big advocate for LGBT Rights. (Let's remember Beautiful this is such a powerful song and video)

Mexico’s Gay Couples celebrate historic weddings

The first four Gay Weddings in Mexico

The first four Gay Weddings in Mexico

I feel so proud of being Mexican. I feel so proud of living in the first Latin American country to legalize Marriage Equality and leave the stupid prejudice apart. It's a fact now, Equal Marriage is a reality and not a dream in Mexico. I honor Mexico City's bold decision and courage of taking this up.

MEXICO CITY—Two glowing brides in matching white gowns and four other same-sex couples made history in Mexico City on Thursday as they wed under Latin America's first law that explicitly approves gay marriage.

Of course this decision did not come smoothly, there was a fierce opposition from the damn conservative party of Mexico and while the Mexican constitution explicitly states the separation of the church from the state we still have retarded conservative legislators who use their religion to make laws.

However, they couldn't here and I hope they loose badly everywhere else. The world is changing, the world is recognizing  that Gays, Lesbians, Bisexuals and Transgender people have been unjustly discriminated against. Soon... enacting equal rights for LGBTs won't be powerful news, but common!

A visitor from the other side of the world

Hello guys, It's been a while since I updated the blog. However, I do have a very good excuse. A friend who was also studying abroad while I was at the University of Idaho decided to visit me for a full month.

This special guest came all the way from Finland to get to know and enjoy the Monterrey. So far I've taken him to places like Chipinque, Fundidora Park, Macroplaza, Villa de Santiago.

I must confess that this experience brought me a new perspective of my own city. Now I know a little bit more about this place and therefore I can say more about it.

So until he leaves I don't think I'll have much of an opportunity to write a decent post.

By the way, now that I'm a teacher I'm finding how hard is to deal with the colds and flu s of people. Since I'm dealing with a lot of people a day (more than 90) at least one is cold and I get easily sick. :(

The seemingly impossible is possible

There is not so much I can add to this... but I think this video is revealing and awesome!  We can get rid of poverty, hunger and underdevelopment without killing the planet. I would also like to share Gapminer.org with you. It's a website worth to see, learn and play with.

The lamest day of my life…

February 2nd of 2010 has been (and I hope "will be...") the lamest day of my life other than some other day in Elementary school which I did not enjoy as well... today 3 awful things happened to me that affected other people.

Morning: I woke up. I was so happy because I would see the new arrangement of the office. I got a relatively nice place within it so I was excited to see the changes... I got to the studio and everything was fine, I got a parking spot and I started installing some drivers for the new wireless hardware. Somehow I couldn't get to the internet and as usual I tried to Reset it... it seems that I blew everything down... The studio will be without Internet for two whole days because of me (and the support guy). My boss got angry and later apologized recognizing that I could not know. He was really tired as well so I understand his anger and I feel that I totally deserve it... I called the support guy but he would refuse to help me and even admonish me for doing such thing (Oh God I hate that guy now) so he did not give me a solution and I went without internet for the whole day.

Oh my... What a Day!

Afternoon: It was 4:20pm, the maid was cleaning the office and I was about to head to my home after extensively trying to fix the Internet... (I hate routers sometimes, I wish they would be less complicated for people who do not understand the terminology.) Everything would have gone well but for the fact that I pulled my chair to put it into my desk and broke a water pipe!!... The whole thing came down and a lot of water poured into the storage room!!... The water drainage was sealed as well... so the first thing I had to do is to unseal it so the water had a place to go!!... Awful, Embarrassing and Shame on me... grrr!! My Co-workers and the Maid helped me and we got to unseal the water drainage while we sealed the Water pipe. So I just did not have enough with the Internet and I left the studio without water service as well!!... It makes me laugh just to think about it, two shots in a day. Again it was my fault and I was responsible, I even offered to pay the damage but again, my boss was tolerant and kind to me so he said there wasn't a problem...

Evening: After mopping the office, draining all the water and moving my computer I took the car and left. I asked for one of my Co-workers for help to back me up because I was in a very tight parking spot. I successfully got out without crashing with anything. It was raining a little bit so I wasn't speeding up. I had to take the right lane on a big avenue and a truck would not let me get into it. The place was packed so I forced myself into it but my breaks would slip because everything was wet and the streets aren't made of a very good material here in Monterrey. The pavement becomes extremely slippery whenever it rains. So I almost crashed with the car in front of me and to prevent it I moved myself two lanes instead of one... and I successfully got to stop my car... 5 seconds later... another car crashed in the back side of my car. I was so happy that it was a only a minor accident, nothing happened, no injuries, no major car damages on either side. Just a little rash on both sides that got cleaned up with a tissue... at least on my side. The person who crashed with me was a very kind guy perhaps a high-schooler... We got into a quick agreement and everything got solved in 20 seconds... phew, my first (and I hope last) car accident!

So today wasn't the best day, but I learned a lot from it. I learned how much people appreciate me and care for me. My Boss was awesome with me and my Co-workers where incredibly supportive and tolerant. I can't complain. Even the person who crashed with me was kind and I am so glad that after all, no one died because of me. The office is not an aquarium because of me, and the Support guy will eventually come and fix the Internet... perhaps I will be able to do something with it tomorrow... after all I already broke it, so let's experiment with it... God protected me today from my stupidity and carelessness and I'm alive, ready for tomorrow!... I think I'm buying some pizzas for everyone soon... as soon as I can cash my check.

Have a wonderful Day, Week, Month, Year, Decade and Life... time goes really fast. Days like this become subjects of funny conversations to laugh at... and there is nothing better than Laughing and enjoying your time with people you love and care about.

Updates drive me crazy :(

I think I might change my host. While I accept this hosting service is working quite well it's not letting me update anything and this is driving me insane... Sorry guys, no posts for two weeks in a row, I've been really busy and my two jobs are extremely demanding. In addition my Mom and my sister left to Mexico City, so now I'm the one doing all the things related with home payments...

Complaints... complaints and more complaints... The awesome news of February is that my application is now being considered. I met the deadline and now my application package is in The Netherlands. The next step is the last and most difficult one as well since only 25% of the applications are accepted... this means that one out of four will be partying on May 1st and the other 75% will be crying in bed because they couldn't get it.

I hope I'm not part of the 75%... it would really break my heart in thousands of pieces if I don't get the financial support.

Tomorrow I will see the brand new arrangement of the office yayy!! The sad part is that my place will be isolated from everyone else, since I'm pretty much my own department. No more being silly with my co-workers. Oh well, I'll be missing them!

Nomination

Whoa! It's been almost two weeks without news. Nevermind... a lot of things have happened. First and foremost, Haiti is in trouble, a huge earthquake destroyed this already poor country making it even poorer.

Google Headquarters in China

Second, Google is pulling the plug with China. While it’s really sad that Chinese people won’t enjoy Google anymore, it was the damn right thing to do. I truly respect Google and I truly believe in their motto of: “Don’t be evil”. This Google conflict with China shows how far this country is from becoming a developed one. They might have a lot of money and infrastructure but they are still far behind in Human Rights. Google is refusing to censor anything and that’s a very good thing to do.

Apart from that, those Chinese Hackers (go figure if they are government hackers) stole information and technology… so, why dealing with a Rich and not so nice Client anyway? Google already got the whole World with their services and it’s a pretty well respected company, it really sucks for China.

The third thing that happened and this is “The Awesome Event of the month of January” is that I got nominated by The University of Twente! I can’t believe it! I got nominated and the next thing to do is to get the Scholarship. I’m so anxious to send my application form but I still don’t have the nomination letter argg…

University of Twente

University of Twente

Finally my dream of studying in The Glorious Netherlands is going to become true!! I can’t wait, I’m so anxious.

Last but not least… if you are a Professional you should try at least once to give classes. I’m finding this experience very fulfilling and satisfactory. I like to be a part-time teacher and if I go to study in The Netherlands I will be able to teach in a University as well!! Ohhhh I can't wait to study in The Netherlands, I know I'm going to LOVE IT... I hope I get the scholarship to study there.

I’m sick! :(

The stuffed virus of a Sore Throat

This is the cutest Sore Throat ever!

Hello guys, I'm sick and I'm not liking it even if I did not have to go to work today. :(

This is the lame event of January... I got a horrible flu (not the swine flu) with an itching sore throat, headache, dizziness and a little bit of nose clogging. I would usually go through the winter without getting sick or with a very mild cough but this time was really different. The flu was so strong that I couldn't even stand up.

The Common Cold

The Cutest Common Cold ever!

On the good news, I'm already getting recovered. I'm no longer coughing and I may even go to work tomorrow. Tonight I planning to take a hot traditional shower. It's worth mentioning that I take my showers with a single bucket of hot water. Yes it's cold but you get used to it after a while. I believe that by doing this I will be saving a lot of fresh water over the years. Since out planet is going to hell with Climate Change I'm putting my tiny grain of sand to reduce my Carbon Footprint over my Lifetime.

First post of the Year 2010!

A unique Dutch Windmill

Hey everyone, HAPPY NEW YEAR, ¡FELIZ AÑO NUEVO!, GELUKKIG NIEUWJAAR!, BONNE ANNÉE, FELICE ANNO NUOVO, and if your language is not mentioned then you may enter to the Happy New Year in all languages page.

I've been reading a blog called Noodles and Beef and he has made a table of the highlights of every month of 2009 and I think I'm going to do the same. It's a good way to see what did you do and what you did not do during the year.

So my resolutions for year 2010 are going to be:

  1. Start a Master Degree in Human Media Interaction, hopefully at the University of Twente.
  2. If I get my scholarship to go to the Netherlands buy a new Laptop.
  3. Study in Holland (perhaps this is going to be the main resolution of my life)
  4. Return to weight lifting and get to 85 to 90 kilos.
  5. Continue with my diet at least until February so my kidneys filter water properly.
  6. Give a great class to my students.
  7. Get to see my fiancee on March and June, and perhaps helping him to visit me on Christmas.
  8. Repair the car of my mom.
  9. Save money

That's pretty much it :) let's see how everything will go. I did a lot of thing on 2009 so I'm hoping for 2010 to be awesome, I'll keep you updated!
